1962 Macgregor Tourney (2,4,6,8,D.S.) - ASSEMBLED
1962 MacGregor Tourney Iron Set (2, 4, 6, 8, D.S.)
ASSEMBLED! Original Minty Shafts and Leather Grips
<if you like the pictures at the end, do please enquire. The Double Duty, 4 Wood, Driver, Putter & Bag are available with these 5 irons.>
This newly rechromed, new club smell, set of 1962 MacGregor Tourney irons represents a pinnacle in golf craftsmanship, coming from the era when MacGregor was simply dominant. The clubs Made during this period have stood the test of time - and then some.
This is Eliot’s favorite Macgregor iron model of all time. He would pay 2x for this set gladly.
These irons hail from the same creative streak that produced other iconic designs, including the highly regarded Tommy Armour V.F.Q. series released the same year. There is no scary top line if that keeps you on sidelines, btw….
MacGregor, at its peak, was the go-to choice for professionals and serious amateurs alike, known for its precise forging techniques and distinctive designs. But now restored in perfect satin chrome, we’d put their looks + performance up against anything out there.
Every detail on these irons, from the hosel dancin’ to the diamond-stamped faces, exemplifies the highly detailed type of craftsmanship that wins us over here at Hourglass,
These lines have inspired MANY modern clubs, including recent models from Miura and Miura Giken just via an eyeball test. At contact, these are just as solid as well (yes we know well how bold a claim that is).
The Tourney irons out of the late 50’s to mid 60’s quickly gained a reputation for their feel and feedback and were instantly prized by professionals and equipment purists alike.
This 5-club “Sunday set” includes original shafts and grips, carefully preserved for those “pure” restoration enthusiasts out there.
The 2 iron and Double Service wedge “bookends” round out a super tight setup.
The original burgundy leather grips with silver trim (part of what MT2 stamp indicates) reflect the care that went into these irons’ creation.
This set is a direct connection to the golden age of club-making which competes with anything made today; and, we sell modern clubs and love many of them. To be clear, Hourglass is a meritocracy.
