Mizuno MP-52 (4-PW) - ASSEMBLED
The Mizuno MP-52s dropped in 2008 and almost immediately became the “Goldilocks iron” of the MP lineup—not too blade-y, not too chunky, just right. Maybe that is why we took so long to find a set up to par. Little too much best of both worlds, but man we got won over. And over.
We went TO TOWN on these after discovering what we had been missing.
Mizuno’s first real Dual Muscle forged cavity back, hand-crafted at their legendary Iron Factory where they’ve been turning billet steel into works of art since the ’60s.
Finish:
Purple Haze Neckade (raw) - by K. Uselton
Apologies, but not really: yes we really like that this set of cavity backs has: “honest-ish” iron lofts. We’re talking 34° on the 7-iron (not 36* don’t worry). But remember back when companies weren’t jacking lofts to trick you into thinking you gained 15 yards. The MP-52s don’t play that game. It was not part of this company’s roll up plan to include these as a final offering and then we hit a friend’s on the range, and then a different set a few weeks later….yup, great irons.
Grain Flow Forged feel? Indeed. The Dual Muscle design gives you workability when you’re striping it, and just enough forgiveness when you’re… not. Thin topline, minimal offset, and turf interaction so clean you could use these as lawn aerators (please don’t send us that bill.)
Perfect for the 0-30 handicap who’s tired of chunky game-improvement irons, the recovering blade masochist, or anyone who wants to nod approvingly at YOURSELF when you pull a club from your bag AND KNOW your playing partners have no idea what to think.
Built for lots of players. Priced for humans. Still super relevant 17 years later.
