Thank You Phil - 1962 Macgregor VFQ AF3 (2,5-9)
Per slide included, the meat of the second set from the legendary (see ^*^ below) 2-18-71 Grateful Dead show at The Capitol Theater in Port Chester, NY is stamped on the hosels of these irons.
Details of heads plus ferrules that are for sale:
Heads:
Refurbished and Rechromed 1962 Macgregor Tourney VFQ AT2 (they were satin chromed)
And then….
We had Ken Uselton Putters add the wild Outer Space finish.
(2, 5-9 iron)
Ferrules:
“Dark Star” by BBFCO
————-
This is one the most solid feeling irons ever designed and produced. Separate from everything else going on here. They are sticks.
More details:
When Phil passed away last fall,
we wanted to do something cool in his honor, and stamping the “meat” of the 2 18 1971 setlist that he recently, and previously described as “beautiful”seemed like a very fine idea.
So, we pulled the satin chrome VFQs, asked Ken to transform them with his Outer Space finish (including the stamping of song names on hosels), and as soon as we saw them we grabbed a set of the “Dark Star” ferrules from Patrick and BBFCo.
This is definitely not cool enough for Phil, but it’s a lovely set of golf clubs full of creativity ready to be released. They were first restored to mint condition….so we they are nice indeed.
